A Night In Hollywood

This past Friday I attended my school’s prom. Who would of known some colleges to still be participating in an event like this? Because I didn’t.  After high school, I thought it was a wrap to all my crazy prom experiences but I guess not.

My prom was located at one of the most beautiful places in New York City. It was held at the Tribeca Rooftop, a 15,00 square foot penthouse featuring panoramic views of the Hudson River, The Empire State Building, Soho, and downtown Manhattan. It was one of the most elegant, planned out events I’ve been to thus far.

The moment you enter the building there was a simulation of the red carpet event, where a photographer is waiting to put the spotlight on you. Students showed off their finest dress and shoes looking elegant from head to toe. All the red carpet looks were capture in the glimpse of a shot of everyone, except for my friends and I. Why??? Because we were fashionably late. The event started at 7pm and we didn’t arrive until 8:30pm because of wardrobe malfunctions and mismanagement of time. By the time we got there luckily we didn’t miss much except for the red carpet event and cocktails.

The moment we sat and took the time to finally relax and absorb it all in, I was stunned. The scenery was so beautiful and romantic I couldn’t stop clicking my camera for photos. I tried to take as much photos I can for you guys just to show you how amazing this event was.

There was a 5 course meal, my favorite part of any event. A starter or appetizer, the dinner or meal, and most of all  “DESERT,” mmmm. Each portion was served by the most professional waiters and waitresses in the business. The food was so tasty and yummy I was acting like a little pig. The desert presentation was filled with every desert you can imagine. So many options to choose from with not a plate or stomach big enough to hold all my wants. Ice cream and toppings, cookies, cakes, pies, and more . If your a sucker for sweets, you would of loved it.

During the entire event there was dancing, dancing, and more dancing. Photo booths were set up to take the most silliest picture for your most memorable event.  The best part yet,…. One floor up, we were on the rooftop of this 12 story building. The views of New York City was breath taking with the calm breeze from the Hudson River. The scenery was so relaxing and refreshing I could of literally stayed up there for the rest of the night and enjoyed myself. It was so much to take in, I tried my best to soak it all up.

Sooner than later, it was time to go. On the way home my friends were tired and exhausted, while I rode in the taxi reminiscing of what a good night I had.

I’ve been so anxious to show you guys how much fun I had and now it’s finally time. This might be one of my longest post because I have so many pictures. I tried to narrow it down by not showing a few pics, but guess what??? It’s still long. At this point, I don’t care because every picture your are about to see is worth the length.

5 Steps in Maintaining My Hair

There are certain steps I take to keep my hair looking vibrant and fresh. These steps are simple and easy to follow, and does not require much to do.

SONY DSC

 What do you need?
Comb and Brush
Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner
Hair Moisturizer /Oil
Olive Oil Edge Control
Flexi Rodes
Blow Dryer

Step 1: Wash your hair

SONY DSC

Shampoo your hair with luke warm water.

hairBriefly comb or brush through your hair with the shampoo to detangle the hair.

SONY DSC

Apply conditioner but do not rinse out.

SONY DSCCover your hair with a plastic cap and leave the conditioner in for 15 minutes.  Wash the conditioner out and proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Dry your hair

SONY DSC

Apply some oil to your real hair (not the extensions) while it is wet. Then dry your hair. Do not dry your hair completely. Half way through the drying process proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Plait your hair into sections and use the flexi rodes to curl the plaits

SONY DSC

Section your hair and plait it to the end.

SONY DSCRoll the braid up with the flexi rode.

Hair 2

After curling the plaits with the flexi rodes throughout  your hair it should look similar to picture above. Continue the drying process until you hair is completely dried.

Step 5: Take the flexi rodes out and unbraid the plaits

PicMonkey CollageSeparate the sections throughout your hair with your finger. You can comb or brush out the curls/crimps if you like, to create a more wavy affect. At this point, you can add a little edge control or Jam if you like. I would not recommend gel.

Note: Notice throughout this whole process I did not apply anything to the hair. The conditioner leaves the hair soft and shiny, making it no need to apply any additional products.

The End Result

Beautiful, wavy, and soft hair.

Men’s Fashion Flash: “The Upskale Kar Guy”

A guys passion for fashion can extend from his clothes to his vehicle. Living in Georgia you may have to conform to the trends of donks and classics, but the new age car guy seeks to be different. Being upskale can consist of skinny fitted jeans, sperrys , and the occasional pair of Jordan’s. Also, wearing different stylish jackets, hoodies, and vests. But having nice clothes doesn’t complete the new age guy.

Him finding a Honda Civic Si in a sexy electron blue pearl factory color was difficult in itself, because it was only produced 1 year by Honda. Dressing it up to his liking was a very difficult task too. Adding gold stretched and stanced rims,  creating a custom dash and completing the look with neon color accessories, and keeping the interior and exterior original and clean, makes him different. The upskale guy not only stands out but also rides out. He always stays current with  fashion trends through his ride and stylish with the clothes on his back.

Just Do It (Nike)

At least 3 to 4 times a week I like to workout out. Staying fit to maintain a healthy body is one of my main priorities.  I enjoy to take a 2 to 3 mile run as well as lift weights just to build a little muscle to stay tone. I also love to do “ZUMBA”. If you haven’t tried Zumba, you definitely need to. It’s sooooo much fun, and like a dance-a-thon and a workout all in one. Sometimes you even forget your working out.

In addition to working out you need to eat healthy as well. People always ask me do I eat healthy?  Honestly, no. I try to for a day or two, and after those days are up I usually give in and revert back to the sweets and snacks. I feel like, since I am working out so much a pizza or cookies can’t hurt but, in reality sometimes it does.  I’m such a picky eater I’m usually not willing to try new things including healthy foods, however, I must say I am committed to working on it.

I encourage all my fans, followers, and viewers to stay healthy and fit. Take a walk around the block, or take  the steps instead of the elevator. Remain active throughout your busy day.  Healthiness is very important!

Monochromatic

What’s hot? Wearing hues shades of one color. Who would of known this trend to be coming back so fast as it did. I  remember in middle school wanting to wear clothing that matches from head to toe and by high school it was all over. I love this trend as I did before. Some may argue that it’s too matchy matchy. However, it’s a trend worn by many and here to stay. With the modern touches and changes in new colors this monochromatic trend is more chic than ever this Spring.  Check out the tips and inspirations below for more…
Monochromatic

Play with bright and bold colors to keep it fun and interesting.

Wear a colored suit. It’s easy to pull off with this trend for a sophisticated professional look.

Throw on a pair of pants or a skirt, with a lighter top and belt (similar in color) to accentuate the waistline. It’s just that simple!

Island Fever (Spring 2013 Trend)

Tropical floral prints are taking over many retailers selling space this Spring. It was a major trend last Spring 2012 but this time it is definitely a bigger one for Spring 2013 with a little twist. The tropical paradise prints are back with a more exotic floral and palm appeal. Almost every retail store you go into has this print, which makes it known that it is definitely a major trend.

Just the other day, when I went for some retail therapy this print was on my left in a pants and on my right in blouse. In another store in front of me, the exotic floral print was in a short dress and behind me in cuffed shorts. As I walked into Forever 21, the entire level was dedicated to this print. At this point, I just knew I had to buy something with this print not just to stay relevant to fashion but current with trends. At first, I thought it was just to bold and bright for my style. I usually don’t wear too many bright colors. However, after picking the right piece and styling it to tailor my style, it turned out great. I am definitely looking forward to buying more of this print and I think you should too.

Living in a Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there was a maiden living in the concrete jungle of New York City. Trapped under the burden of fashion world, her life was becoming a misery. Until one fine day, in the midst of gray, she saw the hope of colors in her life, when she was invited to the Prince’s City Ball. Looking as beautiful as the stars that kids pray to each night, she won the prince’s heart in a beat. But, because of her commitment to fashion, she had to leave before midnight, so when the clock struck 12, and the dongs went on, she ran from the ball to finish her work. In the hurry, she dropped a sandal, the only piece of memory the prince was left of her……
